Here’s a sneak peak at what’s being served at The Fall Cottage Life Show, October 26-28, 2012 at the International Centre. Toronto. You’ll find all of these demonstrations in the Cottage Kitchen. Click here for the schedule.
Knowing that every good cottage gathering starts at the grill, we’ve invited Brian Misko, of House of Q, to cook up a trio of mouth-watering appetizers: Cider Brined Pork Chops, Apple Butter Onions and Spiced Moink Balls. Brian leads an award-winning competition barbecue team based in Langley, BC. Fresh off an appearance at the World Barbecue Championships in Kansas, he’s bringing his signature blend of outrageously smoky flavours to our Cottage Kitchen.
Also appearing, Chef Emerie Brine of Bernardin, is the country’s leading expert in canning. Canning recipes and tips were just presented in the October 2012 issue of Cottage Life magazine, and capitalizing on this interest, Chef Brine will share the art and science of preserving. Attendees will get a taste of his famous red pepper jelly, which is an any-time-of-year recipe that is perfect to make for hostess gifts.
Also in the Cottage Kitchen:
• Cottage Life food columnist Jane Rodmell on Friday & Saturday gets sweet and spicy with chili-inspired recipes.
• Tony Armstrong, uber-cottager and recipe developer for Cottage Life just returned from a 12-month family odyssey across 14 countries. You can be sure he’s got some flavour fusion coming for his dockside appetizer demo.
• Mary Catherine Anderson is a Toronto-based chef and will be cooking up Beef & Stout Stew, plus Fall Fruit Tarts with Greek Yogurt.
• Art Menscher of Westbury Farms is an exhibitor with a unique beef hash product. He’ll be kicking off the demos each day with an easy 10 minute skillet breakfast.
