Trash pandas up to no good

Raccoons, or “trash pandas” as they are playfully referred to in cities, have proven themselves to be adept at thievery. They are often caught in the act of their latest ransacking attempt of your garbage can. In fact, their thievery prowess has prompted the City of Toronto to wage a war with raccoons, going as far as to spend $31 million on raccoon-resistant organic green bins. There’s not much the omnivores won’t eat.

Characterized by their round, fuzzy face and bushy tail, it often belies their sometimes fearsome demeanor. These photos submitted by Cottage Life readers capture the cute critters doing what they do best.
