This barn in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains is now a family vacation home 


The 4,300-square-foot barn is situated at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in Colorado. Along the grassy plains that surround the house, guests commonly see antelope, elk and deer, and from June to September, a herd of around 50 cattle also roam nearby.

This barn has it all: high ceilings! large windows and glass doors! perfectly preserved ceiling beams! So rather than splitting up the barn’s main floor into multiple rooms, the hosts kept it open-concept to emphasize these grand architectural features. In the centre, there’s a large farmhouse-style table that has an uninterrupted view of the surroundings. It also acts as a divider between the kitchen and the living room.

The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances, like the chef-ready stove. While the high-end appliances certainly stand out in the space, the cabinets are covered in a wood finish that complements the rustic floors and walls.

On the other side of the main room is this living area, which is anchored by a fireplace with a homey brick surround. 


Here’s a look at one of the four bedrooms in the barn. Although decor is limited, the American flag, cowboy on horseback artwork and the southwestern-style rug bring in personality. Off this bedroom is one of the two bathrooms.

In this bedroom, there’s a large sliding barn house style door that leads to the bathroom.

On top of absolutely stunning views of the Rockies, the barn home is close to fishing, hiking and horseback riding.
