Gorgeous solar-powered garden shed doubles as summer guesthouse

The building is super multi-functional: the glass space can be used as a summer retreat or a green house, while the back shed is equipped with shelves for storing gardening supplies. The 110-square-feet shed is constructed from Finnish pine and toughened safety glass, and the gabled roof is a nod to the local architecture, which is designed to shed heavy snow.

Inside, the space is outfitted with timber flooring, a bed, potted plants, and a record player. Windows in the roof open automatically to control the temperature inside and the pendant lighting is powered with solar panels. The space is minimal, because who needs décor when you’re overlooking a roof.

The compact shed contains ample storage for stowing seedlings, tools, and firewood. When it’s being used as a summer retreat, it could easily store cooking supplies, toiletries, and extra bedding. The two big doors, which are secured by a simple lock and key, open like barn doors.

The space was designed with modular arrangements in mind as the glass box and the shed can be made larger or smaller depending on its purpose. The inside black wall and the shelving units can be easily removed and folded away to elongate the glass box.

The shed can be bought at Hasselfors Garden in Scandinavia. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there’s a North American retailer as of yet. For now, let this gorgeous shed-cum-guesthouse-cum-greenhouse act as an inspiration for your own backyard.
