The Temagami region boasts over 2000 km of canoe and kayak routes. There are a ton of options that are sure to delight a variety of paddlers, whether beginner, advanced, or looking for other perks such as fishing and camping. Anglers can look forward to lakes filled with lake trout, pickerel, small-mouth bass, pike, and whitefish, and some areas may have rainbow or speckle trout. For those who just want to enjoy the ride, the area is known for the large pine trees.
Be warned, the water trails of Temagami are well-known and popular, so some of the better-known routes might be crowded, especially on long weekends during the summer. Some trails have rapids and fast-moving water, others are a calm ride. There are several trail outfitters that operate in the area, and these are a good option for both experienced and inexperienced paddlers. An outfitter can help a novice paddler learn new skills, and the local guides will know the region best, offering a more in-depth tour of the area.

How to get there: Take Hwy 400 N to Hwy 11. After 215 km, turn right onto Algonquin Ave/ON-11 N. After 89.1 km, turn left on Lake Temagami Access Road. Follow this road for 17.2 km then turn right. After 240 m, you’ll arrive at the lake.
