RCMP arrest couple for having sex in someone else’s hot tub

Do you ever wonder what’s happening at the cottage while you’re away? Maybe some raccoons moved in under the deck, or some mice have invaded the boathouse and chewed holes in your good umbrella. Or maybe, someone’s been using the hot tub.

The last one might sound unlikely, but that was the case for homeowners in Kelowna, B.C., who were shocked when they watched their security camera footage late last month.

The footage showed a couple trespassing onto their property, peering into the house’s windows to ensure no one was home, and then climbing into the hot tub.

But it gets worse.

According to the Kelowna RCMP, the couple then drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes, and “engaged in physical relations” in the hot tub, before attempting to steal items from the patio.

Constable Jesse O’Donaghey told The Canadian Press that the couple, which were later identified as an 18-year-old man from Kelowna and a Surrey woman in her mid-forties, were arrested.

They’ve been released with conditions, but according to reports, they could both face charges of trespassing at night, mischief under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.

Without the security camera, the homeowners may have never known what happened while they were away—now all they need is a lock on their hot tub cover.
