A man is dead after the personal watercraft he was driving collided with another PWC on Georgian Bay near Wasaga Beach, Ont. over the weekend.

At around 6:15 p.m. on August 6, OPP responded to a call about a collision involving two PWCs near the Nottawasaga River. They found a 28-year-old man and an unidentified second driver a Nottawasaga Bay jetski rental business on Mosley Street.

They were both taken to the hospital where the man was pronounced dead. The other driver sustained minor injuries. OPP were unable to confirm if the two people knew each other.

Huronia West OPP Const. Lindsay Griffin says given the involvement of the business, they notified Transport Canada and the Ministry of Labour.

“If events like this occur, we’re mandated to notify them so they can determine whether they’re going to investigate,” Griffin says.

The OPP couldn’t reveal how the business was involved, the nature of the PWC collision, or the identity of the riders as the investigation is ongoing. However they are seeking witnesses.
