A PWC driver has suffered serious, life-threatening injuries after a collision on June 2 in Orillia, Ont.

According to the OPP officer Matt Stoner, police responded to a call on Lakeshore Road West and found a PWC had struck another resident’s boat lift at around 5:30 p.m. before hitting the dock. The driver is not related to the dock’s owners, he added, and no one else was injured in the crash.

Stoner said pedestrians called the police and pulled the driver out of the water, giving them first aid until the OPP arrived. He said the driver was then airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital for treatment. The OPP has not yet released the driver’s identity or current medical status and an investigation is still ongoing.

In an unrelated incident, while officers were at the scene, a second PWC operator was stopped and 60-year-old Michael Pelekis of Kewsick, Ont. was charged with impaired driving. No one was injured by the second driver.
