Potties, permits and parking—oh my!

Thinking of hosting a big event at your cottage next summer?

Ah, the dream of a cottage wedding. Or celebrating Mom & Dad’s silver anniversary with a big surprise party. Or perhaps there’s no reason needed to invite over fifty of your closest friends.

Is your cottage up for the task?

At the Fall Cottage Life Show, we’re exploring entertaining options with a brand new panel discussion on how to host a great cottage gathering, whether it’s a wedding, anniversary, or any large event. If you’re planning a big party next summer, this fall is the time to evaluate if your deck ready for duty, if your septic system can take the load, and if your wobbly old dock is primed for a photo opp.

Holly Carney is a cottage country wedding planner who has seen it all and will share stories from the trenches and her best ideas. You’ll also hear from a mother-of-the-groom who hosted 75 people at her modest cottage, and lived to tell the tale. Also on the panel, non-denominational officiant Sarah Messenger has been to plenty of cottage weddings and hosted many a cottage gathering herself.

The panel is moderated by Cottage Life editor Penny Caldwell, who had a country wedding of her own at her family farm, much to the chagrin of her parents. This isn’t a flowers and décor talk – we’re getting to the nitty gritty of potties, permits, parking and more!

Before you send out the invites, come to the Fall Cottage Life Show and get great tips for a grand gathering.
