Weekly Hack: Basic knife cuts cheat sheet

Attention, cottage cooks! Are you prepped for slow cooker, casserole, and soup season? Well, you will be, with this cheat sheet to common knife cuts. If the recipe says:

“Chopped”

Cut into bite-sized pieces, about ⅓” to ½” in diameter

“Finely chopped”

Chop slightly smaller than bite-sized

“Roughly chopped”

Chop slightly larger than bite-sized

“Diced”

Chop into even pieces, about ¼” in diameter

“Minced”

Chop into even pieces, about ⅛” in diameter

“Cubed”

Chop into bite-sized, uniform squares

“Julienned”

Cut into thin, 3″-long matchsticks, no thicker than ¼”
