This bunkie is far from ordinary. The two-storey, 450 sq. ft. structure stands four metres above ground.
As if a tree house weren't playful enough, the bunkie is also equipped with a bright plastic slide, which was salvaged from an old playground.
The tree house is also home to a number of souvenirs from around the world. The cozy hammock hanging over the balcony comes from Mexico; the bar stools were bought in Bali.
The ladder connecting the two floors is a model once used by Ontario Hydro. It was deemed perfect for the space based on the depth and spacing of the rungs.
And what would a two-story treehouse be without a working kitchenette and woodstove?
A simple loft with an A-frame roof acts as a bedroom, perfect for those searching for more privacy than the daybed offers on the first floor.
White fabrics were used throughout the space to add some light and freshen up the dark, wooden interior.
Along with the furnishings, some materials that the treehouse was built with were sourced around the globe. The railings are old Balinese teak brought back from one of the owner's travels to Indonesia.
Below the treehouse is a gorgeous ground-floor patio. The seating and electric globe lanterns give the open-concept space a surprisingly intimate feel.
If it weren't already obvious, the tree house isn't winterized, but that hasn't stopped some younger ones from braving a winter night or two here.
Only six trees were trimmed to make room for the house, which is why it's nestled so tightly between the red pine forest.
You can learn more about this space and its owners in the July issue of Cottage Life magazine.
