Create an oasis in your backyard with a stock tank pool

Halfway between an above-ground pool and a plastic kiddie wader, a stock tank pool—yes, one that’s made out of a water tank used for livestock—is a cheap way to stay cool in the comfort of your own backyard.

They couldn’t be easier to set up, either. You’ll need a stock tank, which you can get from a farm supply store or second-hand via Craigslist, a filter (optional, but highly recommended), a drill if you choose to use a filter, epoxy to seal any leaks, and a hose conversion adapter kit.

But wait—don’t just fill it and float. Check out these ideas to take your stock tank pool to the next level.
