How the Cottage Coach takes on fall prep with just one battery

Sponsored by Greenworks

Fall at the cottage is one of my favourite seasons, but it also means it’s time to button things up before winter hits. That usually includes clearing leaf piles, stacking firewood, and trimming back anything that might get buried under snow.

This year, I’m taking it all on with the same 60V battery platform I used throughout the spring and summer, and I’ve got to say, it’s still a game-changer. With one battery, I’m already powering through my whole fall checklist. And I’m doing the bulk of it using three Greenworks tools that make every task quieter, cleaner, and honestly, a lot more fun.

Here’s how I’m prepping for winter with the help of Greenworks.

Blowing away the big jobs with the 60V Backpack Blower

After an unusually dry summer, the leaves are falling early, so they’re one of the first things on my list. I used to dread this part of the season, but the 60V Backpack Blower made quick work of the mess.

This blower moves mountains of leaves. I can clear big areas fast, and the backpack design comfortably distributes the weight, so I don’t have sore shoulders afterwards. I was out there for nearly an hour last weekend, and it felt comfortable the whole time.

The power surprised me. It’s instant! No lag, no waiting for it to “rev,” just pull the trigger and you’re off. It even handled the garage without filling it with fumes, which is a huge bonus. My son actually wanted to help out because it’s fun to use (and safe without the exhaust of my old gas blower).

I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s turning a dreaded task into one I actually look forward to.

Prepping firewood with the 60V 18″ Brushless Chainsaw

Next on my list is cutting and stacking firewood for winter. I’ve used a gas chainsaw for years, but after using the 60V 18″ Brushless Chainsaw, I’m officially converted.

So far, it’s easily chewed through everything from smaller limbs to thick hardwood rounds. I had my doubts at first, but this saw handled everything I threw at it. In fact, I was so impressed, I ended up selling my old gas unit.

One of my favourite things about this saw is how quiet it is. You can actually hear the wind in the trees while you’re working. There’s no idling between cuts, no fuel mixing, and no pull cords. Just press the button and go. Battery life was solid too. I can get through a good armload of firewood per charge, and a second battery easily gets me through the full job.

Tidying up with the 60V Battery-Powered Hedge Trimmer

With heavy lifting out of the way, I use the 60V Hedge Trimmer for landscaping. Fall’s a great time to trim things back before the snow starts piling on, and this tool handles everything from cedar hedges to the stubborn lilac bushes that have been creeping into the walkway.

The balance is awesome. I can reach the tops of the hedges without feeling like I’m going to tip over, and the clean cuts actually make everything look sharp instead of hacked. The throttle response is lightning-fast, and the swivel head makes it easy to reach tricky spots.

It’s not just a fall tool, either. I’ll be using this one next spring and summer, too, whether I’m doing a full cleanup or just sprucing up before guests arrive.

One battery to rule them all

When you’re doing seasonal chores, it’s easy to let your tool shed turn into a tangled mess of gas cans, cords, and mismatched chargers. But having one battery system for everything has changed all of that for me.

I’ve got this neat little section in my shed now with my Greenworks tools that all run on the same 60V platform. I just pop the battery in and get to work. No mess, no fumes, no hassle.

Fall prep has never gone this smoothly, and the tools actually made it enjoyable. Whether you’re clearing leaves, cutting firewood, or tidying up the yard, this lineup has you covered.
