Built in a small canyon in the middle of a redwood forest, this tiny cabin—aptly named Owl Tree, because you can hear the call of owls in the evening—is an ideal hideaway for spending the weekend curled up on the couch with a book.

Made from handcrafted wood, this cabin combines all the comforts of home with all the charm of a treehouse. The wood stove's warmth fills the entire space, and the oak table next to it is perfect for a little indoor fun or even a creative project.

With one large, open-concept space and a loft-style bedroom, the cabin's atmosphere is undeniably intimate. Luckily, the cathedral ceiling opens up the main space, giving guests plenty of breathing room. The kitchen, which is nestled in the corner, comes complete with a fridge/freezer, sink, stovetop, toaster oven, and coffee maker. There is even a love seat for all your snuggling needs.

The 120-square-foot loft fits a queen-sized bed and desk. The farmhouse-style quilt and stained-glass lamp add some country elegance to the space.

The bathroom is found on the main level and has a pedestal sink, modern shower, toilet, and on-demand hot water. Thanks to the window, you get to enjoy a gorgeous forest-view while brushing your teeth. When it's dark, you can light your way back to bed with the cabin's antique fixtures.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a seven-mile walk to the shores of the Pacific Ocean or the nearby historic village of Mendocino. You could even enjoy a tour of the well-known Anderson Valley wine country. But if you don’t feel like straying too far, take in the views of the Navarro watershed from the cabin's covered porch.
