Nestled within a scenic bay in Martinsville, Maine, Harbor Cottage is airy and bright with whitewashed walls, simple furnishings, and an undeniably cool vibe. When owner Fiona first spotted the cottage in 1992, it was rundown and crumbling, and in major need of an overhaul. She enlisted architect Sheila Narusawa to lead the renovations, which involved flood-proofing the home, adding expansive windows, and opening up the main floor.
Now that the reno is complete, Fiona and her husband Tony rent out the stunning cottage year-round. In the summer, visitors can catch sea bass off the front rocks, launch a kayak from the front lawn, go for a swim, or bird watch from the sea-facing porch. Located between two small Main villages, a trip to Harbor Cottage is a classic east coast retreat.
