This 300-year-old farmhouse is simply stunning

Although the house has been renovated over the years, the exterior of the house (with its wooden planks and shingled roof) has remained largely the same.

The walls throughout the house are painted a crisp white, an effect that makes the home feel modern yet rustic, and provides a nice backdrop for the family’s collection of heirlooms. The living room has a large sectional sofa covered in throw pillows and a wood-carved coffee table.

Surrounded by big windows with amazing views, the round table in the kitchen is perfect for big family dinners or morning coffee. One of the family members made the red and white bench cushions and the beige curtains. The chairs are all antiques, yet are hardy enough to withstand constant use.

The family added modern black tiles to the kitchen walls, as well as this fireplace. While a wood stove in a kitchen might seem like an odd design move, it makes the space feel especially cozy.

This is one of the six bedrooms inside the home. The antique cupboard was hand-painted. The bedrooms have tiny trap doors in the floorboards so in the olden days, guests could open up the hatch to let the warm air rise.

This old furnace uses a lot of wood to heat up the house, so the family only uses it on special occasions like Christmas when the whole family is over. Rather than removing it, the furnace adds charm to the living room.
