Nowadays, it’s not unusual to find “rustic retreats” complete with flatscreen TVs, stainless steel appliances, and spa-like washrooms. On the spectrum of truly off-the-grid and fancier-than-thou, this Washington state cabin is somewhere right in the middle. It has a fully-equipped kitchen, a cozy breakfast nook, and a loft bedroom. It’s the perfect place to unplug from everyday stress, go for hikes in the nearby Olympic National Park, cook a big family dinner, and watch the sunset over the meadow.

This 400-square-foot rental cabin is located in a meadow with a view of a private pond and the picturesque Olympic Mountains. There’s a barbecue out front, as well as a fire pit with four log stools for late-night campfires.

To make the most of the cabin’s limited square-footage, the main floor’s living room, dining area, and kitchen are all open-concept. The walls and ceilings are clad in pine boards, and rough hewn branches border the sliding doors that lead to the front porch. We love the cozy breakfast nook, which features bench seating topped with plush purple cushions.

Although the owners boast that the cabin is popular with honeymooners, it’s also fit for a family. A wooden ladder leads to the spacious loft area, while the sofa in the living area pulls out to become another double bed.

The living area also features this built-in seating nook, which is topped with a mattress and plenty of throw pillows in vibrant fabrics. The large window brings the lush greenery into the cabin—and gives the nook treehouse vibes.

The kitchen has a full-size fridge and range, plus a microwave and coffee maker—no need to make cowboy coffee!

An outdoor dining set perched atop the wrap-around porch means sunset dinners are an absolute must.
