A 1960s Lake Tahoe cabin with cool modern features

Since the cabin was first built in 1962, the exteriors have been updated with a fresh coat of paint and new shingles. Located on the Carnelian Bay of Lake Tahoe, and surrounded by mature trees, this cabin is a part of a community of vacation homes and year-round residences.

The open-concept main floor features a living room and dining area on one side, and a large kitchen on the other. To make the small cabin feel more spacious, the walls, ceiling and old wooden beams have all been painted white. The sliding doors lead to a back porch.

In the living room, the super modern fireplace complements the rustic coffee table, while the large comfy grey couch gives the space a cozy vibe. 


The kitchen is stunning! The forest green cupboards look amazing next to the marble countertops, white hexagonal-tiled backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. Best yet, all of these skylights open to bring in cool breezes.

This bedroom is located on the main floor. The red headboard with studs and brass pendant lights add a touch of glamour to the space, while the antlers on the wall are a must-have cabin accessory.

Upstairs, the loft area has a second bedroom and this tiny nook, perfect for soaking in rays while reading a book. The space is illuminated by a single vintage-looking bulb attached to the ceiling. It’s minimalist and chic.

In the back of house, there’s a large deck with a BBQ and this red picnic table and bench. Add some twinkly lights to the railings and a couple more chairs, and it’s the ideal spot for nighttime entertaining.
