Video: Helicopter rescue of deer on thin ice

Last month, Dave Farrell, a helicopter pilot who works for the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, was called to Antigonish Harbour where a doe and her fawn were trapped on ice. Because the ice was too thin to attempt a rescue from shore, Farrell saved the deer by helicopter, using the downdraft from the blades to push the animal to shore.

The dramatic rescue was captured on camera by retired biologist Ian Waugh. Watch the video below to see the event unfold.
