Tom Satre has a tour boat company, which means it’s his job to see ocean wildlife. But he and his family got quite the surprise when they spotted four deer swimming past. Just over a mile from shore, Satre used his mooring line to help them onto the boat. Luckily, they caught a few photos of this rare event, which you can enjoy in the gallery below.
Strong swimmers
What on earth were these deer doing over a mile out from shore?
Exhausted
Too tired to stand, the deer huddle on deck as the boat heads to shore.
Checking on the herd
Normally skittish, these deer are too dead-tired to react to a close-by human.
The rescue vessel
Now this is a picture you don't see every day!
Walk this way
A deer is escorted off the dock just in case it decides to go for another swim.
Driver, take me home

Safe and sound
