A bear walks into a bar (no, seriously)

“A bear walks into a bar” might sound like a bad joke in need of a punchline, but no one was laughing in Estes Park, Colorado, when a 6-foot, 300-plus-pound bear pawed open the door and ambled into Lonigan’s Saloon after some unsuccessful dumpster diving.

Daniel Lyell, who followed the bear, attempted to warn the customers. “I tried to holler ‘Bear!’ so people could hear me, but they were oblivious. He kept wandering up towards the middle bar where all the patrons were.”

The owner, perhaps used to burly customers, seemed unfazed by the event. “We are in the Rocky Mountains, so it’s their territory—not ours,” he said.
