Visit the Model Cottage at the Spring Cottage Life Show

model cottage

For the past 19 years, arriving at the Spring Cottage Life Show has felt like stepping into the a little piece of cottage country. Our customized entrances, landscaped areas, and more than 500 exhibitors create the excitement of kicking off another season at the lake!

Now the show is getting even bigger with a fully-finished and decorated model cottage being built just outside the Hall 3 entrance! Come and take a tour! The cottage is 1,300 sq. ft. and features three bedrooms and one bathroom. The open kitchen and living room are perfect for entertaining family and friends, and there are cottage inspired touches throughout, right down to the pine ceilings and screened-in porch. Show attendees will be able to tour the cottage and take away inspiration for their own lakeside retreats.

Canada Builds, the company behind the project and a show exhibitor, specializes in custom home and cottage designs that are built in a controlled environment. After rigorous testing and inspections, the units are then shipped to the building site and married together on a permanent foundation. The costs of a modular cottage are very appealing – about $125 per square foot for a completely finished cottage. That includes all flooring, windows, doors, cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures. And naturally all the designs and finishes can be customized as a country home, chalet, or cottage, and installed anywhere in Ontario.

Styled by Angela Jones of Lakeshore Designs in Peterborough, ON, the model cottage will showcase furnishings and décor items from the exhibitors at the Spring Cottage Life Show. Lakeshore Designs is a cottage country-based design firm, and also works closely with the clients of Canada Builds to assist with design decisions that will help maximize enjoyment of a new home or cottage. If you have a cottage design dilemma or décor question, Angela will be offering free consultations inside the model cottage every day at 1:00pm. Bring your questions, sketches, and photos.

The model cottage is set in a little piece of cottage country, with a natural stone and evergreen garden installed by Cornerstone Landscape & Design of Lakefield, ON in the Kawarthas.
