The accident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. in the Buck Bay area of the lake between an open bow fishing boat and a speedboat. Many emergency response calls were received from both people in the area and a person involved in the crash. Several OPP units responded including an OPP emergency response team and canine unit, as well as Frontenac paramedics, South Frontenac Fire and Rescue, and Central Frontenac Fire and Rescue.

When asked if alcohol played a role in the crash, Bill Dickson, an OPP spokesperson, said police are looking into whether alcohol and speed were factors. No other details about the crash have been released and no charges have been laid at this time. Frontenac OPP continue to investigate the collision along with a collision reconstructionist.

Dickson would like to remind everyone taking a boat out on the water to familiarize themselves with boating safety guides and laws. He also encourages everyone to wear a life jacket or flotation device while on the water.
