On June 6, the Comedy Pet Photo Awards announced the winners of its annual competition. For 2024, a copy-cat dog takes first place. Every year, pet and animal lovers around the world are encouraged to submit their goofy photos and videos for the chance to win the title of Comedy Pet Photographer of the Year. Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam created the awards to highlight the positive and vital role pets bring to our lives. The awards also aim to encourage engagement around animal welfare.
This year’s top prize winner was Sarah Haskell with a photo of her family dog Hector—who has been a long standing muse for Haskell—sticking his head through a catflap. As winner of the top honour, Haskell will receive a cash prize of £500, a camera bag from ThinkTank, and a bespoke trophy. Haskell plans to use her prize money to purchase a larger catflap and some camera equipment.
