How did a deer end up on a roof in Kenora?

Erin Cathcart had heard rumors on Facebook that an industrious deer had gained access to her roof. She had received a number of messages from friends, but on Wednesday she finally saw for herself.

The adventurous animal climbed a snow drift onto the garage, and from there ventured onto the roof, making such a racket that Cathcart thought her daughter was “just was being rather loud.” She explained on CBC Radio Noon that after the discovery of the ungulate, “I had to literally shoo it off my roof.”

In the hopes of preventing a further encounter, Cathcart has committed to digging out the drift so that an incident like this doesn’t happen again—a wise move, since she’s concerned the animal could fall through.

Below is just one of the photos of the deer that made it onto Facebook.
