Snowboarder captures moose galloping down ski run beside her

Moose

Skiers and snowboarders at Colorado’s Breckenridge Ski Resort were treated to a rare moose sighting on Friday—at least the ones who were able to keep up with the animal.

Cheri Luther was one of those who did, and she even managed to capture footage of the incredible on-the-run encounter.

When Luther turned around to see if her friend was still following, she noticed the moose galloping down the run behind her.

That time I turned around and a moose was chasing us down the run in #breckenridge 😂 #mooseontheloose

“Oh my God, I don’t know where to go,” you can hear her nervously say in the video as she continues riding down the mountain.

She later wrote on Instagram that she was afraid to stop in the middle of the run while strapped to her snowboard, so she thought it was best to keep moving and get out of the animal’s way.

There’s a hint of excitement in her scream as the moose dashes down the run next to her. Eventually, she stops and watches it take off.

“It was a crazy sight to see and definitely one we won’t forget,” she wrote.

It’s not often that you see a moose running down a groomed ski trail, but it’s certainly not the first time something like this has happened either. Earlier in February, a snowboarder was filming his friend riding through the park at Jackson Hole in Wyoming, when a moose suddenly appeared and chased them down the slope.

Perhaps even more surprising, though, was when a lynx—an animal that’s known to be incredibly elusive—decided to cross a crowded ski hill in Colorado over the holidays.
