After six-months of recovery in the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre, a five-year old bald eagle has taken flight in La Rivière, Manitoba.

Stranded by a broken leg and tail feathers, thought to have occurred by a collision with a car or hydro pole, the injured bird was released Saturday in front of a supportive crowd of community members and photographers.
“He couldn’t wait to get out of that door. He was banging at the door to get out, so he was ready.” Judy Robertson, president of the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre, told CBC.
The centre hosted the bird since late-November, providing physiotherapy and a safe area for flight training.
“He flew beautifully.”
