Poll: Many Canadians travelling within borders for March Break

Suitcases

With March Break taking place this week in some provinces and over the next couple of weeks in others, CIBC released stats about Canadians’ vacation plans, including how many will be travelling, where they will be travelling, and what they plan to spend.

The telephone survey done by Harris/Decima interviews polled more than 1,000 Canadians between Feb. 21 to 24. The findings highlighted most were the percentage of Canadians travelling by region, with Albertans topping the list, and the average amount travelling Canadians would be spending—a whopping $2665. However, it was another stat that peaked our interest.

While you may expect all of those travelling to be headed south, 41 percent will be spending their holiday in Canada. Surprised? Check out our round-up of the best Canadian March Break destinations for some of the places that we think are worth sticking around for. From coast to coast, there are tons of entertaining and even exotic getaways that make foregoing the tropical temperatures worth it.

For those of you who won’t be taking a vacation in March, not to worry—spring is just around the corner!
