A mysterious hero leapt to the rescue of a young girl when a school bus was forced to stop after becoming tangled in fallen trees near Terrace, British Columbia. The incident took place last Monday, April 7, after a sudden windstorm swept over the town.

“A bystander said that a couple of the youth had gotten off the bus when it stopped because of the downed trees,” states local RCMP Constable, Angela Rabut, in a release.

“Another bystander saw a tree come crashing down towards one of the girls. He selflessly tackled the girl and absorbed the hit from the tree and hydro wires himself.”

According to the police, the man was believed to be slightly hurt in the incident. Luckily, the power lines were already dead when they hit the ground, otherwise the man might have been severely injured. B.C. Hydro had also quickly shut off the power supply when the bus had become stuck in among the trees and power lines.

“It was like a war zone out there, trees were falling down everywhere due to the high winds,” Const. Shane Nicoll told The Province. “It was an unbelievable act of heroism.”

Fortunately, the young girl is unharmed. Rabut said the Mounties are still trying to find the man whose quick actions protected the girl, so this unnamed hero so he can be officially recognized for his actions.
