Take an overflowing refrigerator plus a warm six-pack, and what you do you get? A beer lover’s worst nightmare.

Fridges are excellent at organizing fruits and vegetables from cheeses and meats, keeping condiments neatly arranged, and ensuring milk doesn’t tip over. It’s not the best, however, at doing all of the above while also storing a six or 12 pack of bottled beer. Sometimes there’s just not enough space.

Enter, BottleLoft.

Designed by Brian Conti, BottleLoft is a device for inside your refrigerator that uses super-strong magnets to hang bottles by their metal caps, freeing up plenty of space underneath.

“The idea came through observing a problem…specifically what to do about my crowded refrigerator. The introduction of a six-pack or 12-pack of bottled beverages to my refrigerator creates space havoc,” writes Conti on bottleLoft’s Kickstarter page.

“After some thought, it was obvious that there was a lot of unused space at the top of my refrigerator…space that could help resolve my crowding problem.”

Conti experimented with several types of magnets before finding the perfect fit, a custom-sized neodymium magnet that can hold a 50-pound sheet of steel.

Despite its simple design, bottleLoft is an engineering marvel.

A typical bottled beverage weighs only 1.2 pounds, but because the magnet would only be grabbing onto the thin, metal bottle cap, Conti needed to find a magnet that had strong pull abilities. He also needed to find an adhesive that could withstand the weight of the bottles and also the refrigerator temperature.

“The result product is uniquely awesome and patent pending.”

Conti is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to mass-produce BottleLoft.

And although he has already surpassed his goal of $20,000, you can still back the project and receive your very own bottleLoft for just $20. Or better yet, make a pledge on the behalf of a fellow beer-lovin’ cottager as an early Christmas present.
