So I’m going to participate in Black Friday to get a start on my give list while saving some money. The cottager gifts I’m suggesting below are a few of my favourite things from 2023. (I may be late to the Codenames craze, but I got hooked at a girls’ cottage weekend last September.) I’m also including a few items that I’ve previously given to loved ones, each one a hit, so I’ll probably be giving a few of those again this Christmas, but to a new lucky recipient. Codenames is the only thing we reach for on family game night these days. It’s great for all ages, which makes it perfect for the cottage. 20% off ($23.99) Two of my favourite reads of 2023. They’re very different from each other, but both are perfect for the dock or hammock: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver 30% off ($18.89) Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune 30% off ($17.46) I recently bought these for myself, and my kids asked me if I was trying to look like a teenager 🙄 Whatevs, they are super cute, okay? Nike Panda high tops ($170) Cozy jammies that you can get monogrammed. The ones I gave my husband last Christmas are still in great shape after a winter of wearing and washing. Men’s pyjamas from L.L . Bean ($129) I took this sweater on a trip to New Zealand last winter and wore it almost everyday. Plus, ’80s vibes! Patagonia sweater ($169) Beyond being super comfortable for a side-sleeper like myself, what’s great about the Casper pillow is that you can throw it in the washing machine. Original Casper pillow 15% off ($75.65) Let 2024 be the year that you finally do yourself a favour and avoid broken wine glasses. Instead, take these beauties for a drink on the rocks (the ones on the ground, not in your drink!). They come in lots of gorgeous colours. 295 ml wine tumbler from Yeti ($35) Love to nap but have trouble unwinding enough to do it? Try one of these, I swear they help! Knit weighted throw blanket 55% off ($125) We did a story about mushrooms in our Sept/Oct ’23 issue, and it was so delightful to learn about these little forest friends. In honour of that work, I’m hanging this cutie on my tree this season. Felt mushroom ornament 30% off ($8.75) These sweaters were all the rage for a girl (me!) going to high school in the nineties. And they are back, either as pullovers or as cardigans, in hunter green or red. Roots Falling Snow cardigan 30% off ($103.60) The little Swiftie in your life has almost a year to make a set of bracelets before Taylor gets to Canada next fall. This is the perfect gift for them. Clay bead kit 20% off ($23.09) *Additional $3 off coupon Calling all cottage kids! A-frame Lego Cabin ($239.99) The best gift for any cottager, if I do say so myself, is a subscription to Cottage Life magazine. Use this link to get 50% off of the cover price. You’ll get a year’s worth of issues, plus one bonus issue for $24.95. Plus, you’ll get a copy of the 2024 Cottage Life Trivia Calendar as a gift with purchase.
