The pet-sitting site Rover.com has released its top dog breeds of 2024—and the results are paws-itively delightful!
Mixed breeds took home the grand prize, with playful retrievers as the runners-up. Though the list doesn’t look too different from last year’s, Shis Tzus beat out Labradoodles for a spot on the ballot.
- Mixed
- Labrador Retriever
- Golden Retriever
- Goldendoodle
- German Shepherd
- French Bulldog
- Shih Tzu
- Cockapoo
Interestingly, Rover’s annual report found that many pet parents are more apt to choose their furry friend based on the assumed personality traits of the breed rather than appearance. According to the report, loyalty is the most desired personality trait for a dog. If you’re the proud owner of a German Shepherd, Pitbull Terrier, or Chihuahua, you likely already know that you’re all set on that front.
Small dogs were overall trending this year, with Yorkshire Terriers, Bichon Frise, and Toy Poodles on the rise.
Rover also released the top dog names of the year, and they’re just as cute as you might expect. Charlie, Milo, and Max were the most popular names for male dogs, with Luna, Bella, and Daisy taking the top prize for females. See if your pooch’s name made the cut here.
