Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the Bracebridge detachment have recovered the body of a kayaker who drowned in Lake Muskoka on April 28.

Around 11 a.m., emergency responders arrived at the scene on Muskoka Road 169 near Glen Echo Road in Gravenhurst after receiving a 9-1-1 call from the kayaker’s loved ones.

Police said that a man visiting the area had “encountered difficulties” causing him to fall into the water while kayaking near Taylor Island.

Bracebridge OPP and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit conducted a search of the lake throughout the day. At 6:30 p.m., officials discovered the body of the 31-year-old man in the water.

Police want to thank the public for their support and assistance during the search.
