Baked apple chips

Baked apple chips in a bowl By Brent Hofacker/shutterstock

These apple chips are shockingly easy to prep. They are great on their own as a snack, or add them as a garnish to our Creamy apple and parsnip soup. They do need to spend some time in the oven—time that will simultaneously warm up the cottage and fill the air with the sweet smell of fall.

1. Preheat oven to 225°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2. Cut 1 unpeeled, cored apple into 1/8″-1/4″ slices, using a mandoline or sharp knife.

3. Bake, flipping halfway, until crisp, for about 2 hours.
