A Dairy Queen in Toronto busted out the giant 22,333.6 lb dessert on May 10, 2011. The cake was 45.5 m long, and included vanilla ice cream, sponge cake with buttercream frosting, and a cookie crumble on top. No word on how many calories it contained.
Canadian Chester Lindgren set a world record with his 1,642 belt buckles on June 23, 2005. He’d started collecting them in 1974. Dude, just buy pants that fit!
There’s team bonding and then there’s…whatever the heck this was about. The employees at Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto set this incredibly specific world record on January 27, 2015. They moved 45.5 litres of water. And then, we assume, went back to work.
Merry sugary Christmas! The folks at World Vision Canada lined up 7,735 candy canes to form a more-than 1,030-metre cavity train on December 15, 2016. That’s a lot of Red Dye 40.

In June of 2016, a Big Ben-shaped Pez dispenser sculpture—made out of actual Pez dispensers—was unveiled at an art gallery in Richmond, B.C. The artist used 10,000 dispensers to create the 5 ft. x 5 ft. x 7 ft. Pez clock, part of the gallery’s summer “London Calling” exhibit, which also included a Tower Bridge sculpture made out of Pez candy. Obviously.
Keeners at the 2017 Welland Floatfest in Ontario formed a 165.74-metre chain of floaties. It was the only place you could see pink flamingos, rainbow-horned unicorns, and giant pizza slices at the same time.
Some Canadian world records aren’t surprising. World’s Largest Snowball Fight? Sure. Because winter. And obviously Canadians would be the folks to set a record by forming a massive human maple leaf. But these other feats are far more obscure, and in some cases, downright bizarre.
