5 can’t-miss bites and delights in Victoria-by-the-Sea

If visiting P.E.I.’s historic lighthouses is on your list, then Victoria by the Sea has you covered. The Victoria Range Light and Seaport Museum is a working lighthouse that also houses the special “Keepers of the Light” exhibit about Victoria’s seafaring commerce history. Take the opportunity to climb to the top of the lighthouse for panoramic views of the town and the river.

The town has become known as a foodie destination with plenty of local fare and beverage Richard’s Fresh Seafood; or enjoy seafood chowder, lobster, and other seafood bites at the Lobster Barn (save room for their dessert.) Maybe you’ll want to order up the oysters at Landmark Oyster House or enjoy a meal at Casa Mia by the Sea while taking in the water views from their patio.

Island Chocolates has been serving up their delicious chocolate treats for many years in Victoria by the Sea. You’ll fall in love with their handmade chocolates and confections. While visiting, get a cup of coffee to go or try their specialty: a warm Belgian chocolate lined glass with fresh brewed coffee and topped with whipped cream!

Take in a live musical or theatrical production at the Victoria Playhouse. Since 1981, the Playhouse has been entertaining guests with its dramatic, humorous, and heartfelt performances. The Victoria Playhouse also hosts live concerts featuring Canadian musicians from the East Coast and beyond.

Stock up on cottage decor or purchase souvenirs to take home to loved ones at one of the many shops in town. You’ll find East Coast and local-to-the-island handmade gifts, pottery, jewelry, candles, and more at the Tidewater Merchants along the wharf, or walk the village streets to discover shops like Bittersweet Rose of Victoria (on Main Street) featuring products by East Coast artisans.
