Spiked coffee is the only hot drink that delivers all four essential food groups: alcohol, sugar, caffeine, and fat. Always a winning formula, it can be made yet more indulgent by combining sweet bourbon, maple syrup, a touch of chocolate, strong coffee, and rich, heavy cream in the Kentucky Joe—a liquid adaptation of bourbon country’s ubiquitous, signature chocolate bourbon balls. Guaranteed to take the chill off.
Ingredients to make one drink:
1 oz of Maker’s Mark bourbon
1 oz Godiva White Chocolate Cream liqueur (Don’t have any? See tip below)
1/2 oz maple syrup
35% whipping cream
5 oz strong, hot coffee
nutmeg shavings
For each drink, add Maker’s Mark bourbon and Godiva White Chocolate Cream liqueur to a coffee cup with maple syrup. Whisk cream until thick but not stiff. Stir 5 oz strong, hot coffee into cup and top with a dollop of whipped cream. Dust with nutmeg shavings.
Tip: If you don’t have Godiva White Chocolate Cream, use cocoa powder and a little extra maple syrup to compensate.
