This geometric backyard bunkie is both cozy and modern

The simple shapes children first learn in math class—like cubes, polygons and triangles—inspired the space’s geometric structure. The freestanding fort, which is only 80-square-feet, is clad in wooden black hexagons that resemble modern shingles. Inside, natural wood helps bring the lush greenery indoors.

Along with a skylight and multiple windows, the fort features massive glass doors that provide ample lighting and further open up the small space to the surrounding property.

Although small in size, the space incorporates several built-in furniture pieces, including shelves, cabinets, and a bench outfitted with custom cushions. Inside, the building’s shape is accentuated with trim work.
