Maybe you haven’t had the opportunity to brave the chill of the far north in order to witness the spectacle of the Aurora Borealis. Not to worry, an intrepid band of adventurers with impressive equipment have captured a beautiful video of the natural phenomenon.
The video was taken in the Murphy Dome area near Fairbanks, Alaska on Friday, January 2nd by YouTube user Ronn Murray. The trio battled knee-deep snow and frigid temperatures to catch the majestic Northern Lights at their best.
If you’re curious what equipment was used, the posters were kind enough to share their gear list:
- Sony a7S
- Rokinon 24mm f/1.4
- DJI Ronin Gimbal Stabilizer
- Atomos Shogun 4K Monitor and Recorder
The heart of the operations was the Atmos Shogun Recorder, which they “combined with a Sony a7S and a DJI Ronin for a look at whats it’s like to ‘Chase the Lights.'”
If you’ve found this video so inspiring that you simply must see the lights for yourself, you’re in luck. Ron and the gang actually run tours to see the Northern Lights, including portraits taken in front of this strange and beautiful phenomena. You can find out more by visiting their website.
