If children and fawns have one thing in common, it’s their irrepressible curiosity. One day the fawn will grow wary of humans and become stand-offish in the way that we expect from deer. And the little girl will learn that petting wild animals isn’t necessarily a good idea.
But for now, both girl and deer share a connection that seems almost mystical.
User Brad Herring explains in the video description that when they were “unpacking the car from a canoe trip when this fawn stumbled across our front yard and into Maya’s arms. The fawn had a good sense about Maya and followed her every step. They were inseparable from the moment the met.”
Maya led the newborn fawn back into the woods to reunite with its mother. While they did not witness a reunion, an update adds that, “We saw two doe and two fawns in our neighbour’s yard yesterday and then again a fawn and doe in our backyard today, so we are pretty certain that she was found.”
There is some controversy over whether we should encourage our children to interact with wildlife, as it can be both dangerous to the human and harmful to the animal. What are your thoughts? We’d love to hear in the comments section!
