Incredible photos show Canada through the eyes of a new resident

A photography project by a Belgian who had just moved to the country showcases Canada’s wild spaces—and his excitement about the incredible scenes is contagious.

Victor Aerden’s photographs convey the magnificent scope of Canadian landscapes, as well as the wonder the photographer feels upon seeing them. The vast natural spaces of Aerden’s new home of Alberta are certainly a departure from the scenery of his homeland. As Aerden writes on Bored Panda, Belgium is “small, flat, and heavy populated but cosy,” whereas Canada is “giant, beautiful, and not so populated.”

Incredibly, Aerden has only been taking photos for about a year, making him new not only to Canada, but also to photography. His images, however, look like the work of a seasoned pro, with a great sense of depth and perspective—though he has a beginner’s sense of exploration and joy.

These photographs will make you see Canada through Aerden’s eyes, and they might just infect you with a bit of his wanderlust too.
