Hunting in cottage country: How close is too close?

Are there rules around how close hunters can go to cottages? Cottage Life magazine editor, Michelle Kelly, answers this very question in one of our Q&A videos. Michelle explains that hunting is a heavily regulated activity in Canada at all three levels of government: federal, provincial, and municipal. Cottagers therefore shouldn’t be overly concerned about hunters interfering with cottaging or lakeside activities. Although proximity regulations are determined by location, the general rule of thumb is between 100-300 metres. Watch the video to learn more!
