Adorable Springer Spaniel springs through a wheat field

Dogs provide a limitless source of entertainment for their owners, whether failing to catch food in their mouths, or striking up a friendship with a tiny owl.

Even something as simple as a walk in the grass can surprise and delight, as is the case with this problem-solving puppy. Too small to peer over the long prairie grass, Alfie the Springer Spaniel finds a creative solution that’s straight out of a cartoon.

Originally dashing around blind, Alfie quickly figures out that a quick pop-up will help him spot his owner, though his antics may have more to do with his breeding than his cleverness. Originally bred for hunting, Spaniels were used to flush, or “spring,” birds out from the brush.
