Texans are certainly known for their boldness, but these endangered Mexican black bears in in the state’s Big Bend National Park take it to the next level.

While kayaking down the Rio Grande, Stephanie Latimer observed a peculiar sight: a momma and cub climbing up the side of a steep cliff.

Latimer knew that just observing one of the 12 adult Mexican black bears living in the park was a fortunate occurrence. She managed to capture some compelling video, which also records her rooting for the brave climbers to succeed.

Black bears are accomplished climbers, but from this remarkable video it’s clear that their skills extend far beyond trees.
