Vancouver Aquarium releases 11 adorable seal pups into open waters

Crowds gathered on the shores of Vancouver on Friday as the Vancouver Aquarium released 11 rehabilitated seal pups into the waters of Burrard Inlet.

The Aquarium releases seal pups once they have grown to at least 20 kilograms. They still have another 90 seal pups in their care, along with one young otter.

This year’s group of rescued pups were all named after famous Canadian athletes. Among those who swam away from Burrard Inlet: Roberto Luongo, Kekuta Manneh, Travis Lulay, David Ousted, and Kevin Bieksa. And the female pup that was part of the group released on Friday? That was Abby Wambach.
