Take camping to a whole new level with this off-grid washing machine

Forget electricity, batteries or solar power—this incredible washing machine runs on foot-power.

Made by the Toronto-based company Yirego, the Drumi is a foot-powered washing machine and spin dryer that requires no energy. The Drumi can hold around five-litres of water, which can clean around six to seven garments—the perfect load size to clean your dirty clothes after a sweaty hike.

At 22-inches tall, the Drumi is as easy to pack as it is to use. Once your garments are inserted, add soap, water, and get pumping. When you’re finished, dirty water drains from the bottom of the Drumi at the push of a button. Once you’ve emptied the water, add your clothes back inside for a quick spin to remove excess water. Then, you’re ready to hang dry.

Using 80 percent less water and detergent than a regular cycle, and made of 40 percent recycled materials, the Drumi is also a sustainable, environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional machines.

Best yet, the Drumi works super quick. The wash cycle takes around 1 to 3 minutes and the rinse cycle takes around 1 to 2 minutes.

This washing machine is an ideal companion for car camping or off-grid cottages, or even city dwellers that need to clean hand-wash only delicates.
The Drumi is currently available for a pre-sale price of $129 until June 29. Yirego will start shipping it out next summer.
