Black bear gets stuck in car, honks for help

bear cub in car honks horn

At 5 a.m. on Thursday morning, a Virginia couple was woken up by a car honking its horn. When they went to investigate, they were shocked to see a young black bear behind the wheel of their car, which was parked in their driveway.

Apparently the 200-pound bear climbed into the unlocked vehicle to reach some food that had been left in the car. Since the window was not broken, police believe that he opened the door using the handle.

“It was misty, so you could see where he tried to reach for the handle…Once he got into the car, he locked himself [in]…” Roanoke County Police Officer Chris Thayer told WDBJ7.

Eventually, Officer Thayer opened the door and the bear immediately took off into the woods.

If the guilty way he took off is any indication, he probably just forgot his driver’s permit.
