4 knots every cottager should know

Knots, those little under appreciated bundles of rope. They prevent our boats from floating away, they ensure we aren’t left behind bobbing in the wake during water skiing, and, most of the time, they keep our bathing suits held up. But how do you know which type of knot to tie? Don’t worry if you weren’t a Cub Scout or a Girl Guide, we’re here to teach you four knots every cottager should know.

Types of knots:

Reef Knot
Fastening knot, used for tying 2 lines together

Slip Knot
Loop knot, used for cinching

Bowline Knot
Loop knot, easy to tie and untie after hauling a heavy load
