Want that rustic look without scavenging for barn board? Here’s how to distress your own lumber for a DIY drink tray that’s fun for the cottage.

1. Cut 1 x 3 inch pieces of pine to desired length

2. Distress using a chisel, hammer, screwdriver, chain, or anything else that leaves a dent.

3. Stain using a brush to fill holes and gaps, and wipe away excess with a cloth.

4. Glue and screw end braces onto top using 1-1/4 inch screws.
