There are few things that capture the attention of a child on a beautiful summer day more than bubbles. Inspire wonder in the hearts of your children, and reawaken your own inner child, with this simple DIY bubble wand that creates monstrous bubbles. This simple afternoon project also includes a recipe for a solution for creating these perfectly giant bubbles. Note: mind your distance from the lake so soap doesn’t end up in the water.
Begin with 10 feet of cotton rope. We bought a polyester-cotton combo and removed the polyester. Singe both ends to prevent fraying.
Using 5/8 dowels, screw an eyelet into each end. Tie two washers into the centre of your 10′ rope. Measure 3′ and knot each side through the eyelet. Then, add a knot in the centre to complete your triangle.
To make your solution, add the following ingredients and stir lightly:
6 cups of water
1/2 cup of Dawn dishsoap
1/2 cup of cornstarch
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon personal lubricant (we used KY Jelly)
